In April, singer-songwriter and five time Grammy Award winner Christopher Cross was diagnosed with COVID-19. Now, he has revealed that the virus has caused him to have “intense muscle weakness” and “temporary paralysis” in his legs.

Although when ‘Sailing’ singer Christopher Cross was diagnosed he noted that he was fortunate enough to be cared for in his home, the famed musician has taken to Facebook to reveal that his legs have been temporarily paralysed as a result of the virus sweeping around the world.

Starting off, the multi-talented musician wrote a note of thanks for the “kind words” that his fans have been showering him in, and that he wanted to give us an update.

“As you know, last month I got the COVID-19 virus. It took a long while to get the test and by the time I got a test I was already out of the infection window. I had become very ill but fortunately I did not develop respiratory complications,” Cross wrote. “I feel so sad about all the souls lost to this pandemic.”

Even though he began to slowly recover, the virus caused other problems as consequence. “At present I am suffering from intense muscle weakness and a temporary paralysis of my legs — I am unable to walk,” he revealed.

“However, physicians have assured me that I will recover. I have already begun physical therapy and am optimistic about improving. My girlfriend has been my angel throughout all this. My management team, good friends and family have all been amazing. In addition, I have a wonderful medical team.”

Although it hasn’t been said as to how long it will take Cross to fully recover the muscle weakness, he remains optimistic, and is keen to get back on the road and tour once we’re free of quarantine regulations.
