Dallas Green is in the country for an exclusive Brisbane Festival show this weekend, but that doesn’t mean the City and Colour songwriter is leaving Australia without a return date in mind.

Set to return for an Australian tour in April, 2020, City and Colour will be touring his sixth record, A Pill For Loneliness, on his first shows Down Under in four years.

“You didn’t think I’d come to town without announcing a tour did you?!” he wrote on Facebook today, in announcing the news.

A Pill For Loneliness is due out on October 4th, following on from the songwriter’s 2015 #1 record, If I Should Go Before You.

Following its release, the album was nominated for several Canadian Juno Awards, and hit the #5 spot on the ARIA Albums Chart. Entering a new creative phase with A Pill For Loneliness, City and Colour will be releasing the album on his own label, Still Records.

“I wrote a lot of dark songs and wrapped them in the most beautiful sounds we could find,” Green has said of his new material. “There are personal connotations, but they’re also relatable. I’m thankful for the opportunity to create.”

Joining Green on tour will be Alex Lahey, who is supporting in solo mode. It’s been a big week for the Melbourne artist, whose recent Like A Version cover of My Chemical Romance’s ‘Welcome To The Black Parade’ clocked over 150,000 views since Friday and has gotten the attention of Gerard Way himself.
