A panel of music industry luvvies selected their album Bliss Release from the eight other finalists for the $30,000 prize. The band were unable to attend the ceremony due to being in the UK on tour, but Alister Wright, Heidi Lenffer, Ulrich Lenffer and Jeremy Kelshaw sent along manager Joel Connelly to pick up the cheque.
He declared that the money would go towards touring and promotion expenses for the band. Trotting out lines for the press, AMP Director Scott Murphy said “For the sixth year in a row The AMP has successfully enabled an independent body of relevant judges to listen and review the body of work created by Australian recording artists and released in a particular calendar year. All musical genres have been welcomed and all entries have been treated equal.”
