Is this is the best excuse for cancelling a concert ever?
Rather than resort to the usual ‘unforeseen circumstances’ tripe, Cold Chisel have revealed they’ve been forced to cancel and reschedule their Melbourne headline show planned for Thursday 12th April after guitarist Ian Moss was involved in a ‘freak accident’.
What freak accident you ask? Well, turns out Moss was savagely mauled by the ferocious family pet over the weekend. No, that’s not right. Let’s try that again. He was bitten by the ferious family pet. Still not right? Ah, I see. He was bitten by…..the family cat?
According to a statement issued by the group’s representatives the bite left his middle finger severely infected and badly swollen, rendering him unable to play guitar. Such is the nature of the injury that Moss is being kept in hospital on an intravenous drip. Bad kitty.
Doctors confirmed today that Moss will be unable to play this Thursday but they are optimistic that he will be fully recovered ahead of the band’s Hordern Pavilion show next Wednesday 18 April. The Melbourne show is now resheduled for a week later on Thursday April 19 Melbourne at Festival Hall.
All tickets purchased are transferrable to the new show. If ticketholders are unable to attend the rescheduled show, refunds will be available from the point of purchase. Cold Chisel have also apologised for any inconvenience caused.
“I’m sorry to inconvenience our fans who had tickets for Thursday in Melbourne,” said Moss from his hospital bed. “It’s amazing that something like a cat bite can lead to a postponed show – that’s what happens when you call your album No Plans. Sorry to be a pussy, I look forward to making amends next week.”
