Coldplay welcomed a familiar face to the stage during their Tuesday night performance at Wembley Stadium, with Simon Pegg joining the band for their hit “A Sky Full of Stars”.
The English actor took up tambourine duties during the 23-song set, marking another chapter in his ongoing collaboration with Chris Martin and the band.
Pegg shared his return to the stage via Instagram Story, posting a photo of his tambourine with the caption “Rejoined the band”. This wasn’t the actor’s first appearance with Coldplay at the iconic London venue, having previously performed the same song with the band in 2022.

The Hot Fuzz star has established himself as something of an honorary member of Coldplay over the years. His musical collaborations with the band date back to 2009, when he played harmonica on “Trouble” during another Wembley show. More recently, in 2021, he introduced the band before their performance at the Shepherd’s Bush Empire.
Speaking on The Late Late Show earlier this year, Pegg revealed the practical reasoning behind his instrument choice. “I used to get up and play harmonica, but that’s so nerve-wracking because you can hit a bum note,” he explained. “You can’t hit a bum note on a tambourine. So if [Martin] asks me to come onstage, I say, ‘Yes, but it has to be the tambourine!'”
Coldplay’s current residency at Wembley Stadium represents a significant milestone in their ‘Music of the Spheres’ tour. The band are performing 10 consecutive nights at the venue, with shows continuing tonight and on August 30th before concluding on September 8th.
The tour has generated considerable attention beyond the music itself. Last month, the production made headlines when Astronomer CEO Andy Byron and the company’s chief human resources officer, Kristin Cabot, were caught in an intimate embrace on the venue’s jumbotron during the Boston show. Byron subsequently resigned from his position.
