Now that we’re nearing the middle of February, we’re starting to see music festival lineups like Groovin The Moo drop as well as rumours for Splendour In The Grass making the colder months not look so bad, and to get you even more excited, there’s a new festival joining the game this winter.

It may not be the same size as the aforementioned titans of Aussie music festivals, however this July Bello Winter Music will take over the rural town Bellingen for three days of musical bliss, as the Coffs Advocate reports.

Created by the masterminds behind the ever-popular music event Mullum Music Festival, Bello promises to bring a hearty pedigree of both international and local musicians to the northern New South Wales town from July 2 – 5 this year, which will see everything from pubs and halls to street corners and parks taken over by performing musos.

Akin to Mullum Music Fest, Bello will include more than just live performance, with organiser Glenn Wright stating, “Bello Winter Music will include a youth mentorship program, lots of family-friendly activities, street theatre and a healthy dose of local performers.”

Excited, he continues, “I really love Bellingen and visit there three or four times every year, it has a similar counter-culture to Mullumbimby with a diverse community and vibrant local music scene, Bello Winter Music will grow from a grassroots level, working with and supporting local musicians, businesses and the broader community.”

Bellingen Chamber of Commerce president Bruce Levy spoke of his intentions to make the festival an annual event, “We are looking forward to building a long term relationship, the benefits will be shared by all in our local community and from what I hear from the Mullumbimby Chamber, it’s a huge coup for our town.”

The lineup for Bello Winter Music is yet to be released, however if its anything like Mullum Music Festival which last year was headlined by homegrown alt-rock legends The Church, we’re certain this brand-spanking new fest will deliver on the artist front.
