Stone Sour recently wrapped up their Aussie tour which saw them hit up Melbourne, Sydney, and Brisbane for their first shows since Soundwave in 2013. However footage has now emerged of frontman Corey Taylor showing his protective side, as he stopped Sydney’s encore mid-song to help an audience member.
During Stone Sour’s encore at their Hordern Pavilion show last Saturday night, Corey Taylor began to notice something wasn’t quite right with someone in the crowd.
Halfway through the band’s performance of ‘Gone Sovereign’, Corey Taylor signalled for the band to stop before addressing the crowd. “Okay, everybody back up there seems to be a medical issue. Make some room so the professionals can get in there guys,” Taylor said, warranting rapturous applause from the audience.
After a couple of minutes of making sure that the fan is indeed okay, Taylor quickly switched back into performer mode and got the crowd pumped up again before tearing into ‘Absolute Zero’.
Of course, this isn’t the first time that musicians have stopped their shows to help out fans in need. Just recently, Circa Survive’s guitarist Brendan Ekstrom had to stop the band’s set and walk offstage to help a fan who was being sexually assaulted. Even rock group 3 Doors Down stopped their show a few years back to stop a fan who was beating up a fellow audience member.
However this of course manages to show one of rock’s notorious ‘angry young men’ in a rare, caring light, proving once and for all that if you’re in trouble at a rock show, you definitely want Corey Taylor to be up on stage.
