The Cory Brana Australian Tour 2013 has been announced, to follow on from the Mississippi singer-songwriter’s Sold Out Poison City Weekender performance in Melbourne this September.
This natural-born storyteller will bring his hushed, dry whiskey voice and sharp edged story song lyrics to our country for the first time this September, teaming up with a host of local talent for some very intimate performances.
Now a Nashville-based itinerant road warrior, Cory Branan released his third album Mutt through Bloodshot Records (Justin Townes Earle, Murder By Death) last year, to fan and critical acclaim.
Taking cues from Motwon to Mellencamp, Leonard Cohen to Gabriel Garcia Marquez, Branan’s years spent honing his craft amidst relentless touring has resulted in a unique, self-made sound that also references former label mates Lucero and the rawer roots sounds of Chuck Ragan, Jon Snodgrass (Drag The River) and Dave Hause (The Loved Ones).
Branan’s 2013 touring adventures have included international tours with the collaborative ‘Revival Tour’, alongside the much-adored Tim Barry and a tour with the now legendary The Gaslight Anthem. For an inkling of what to expect from this master storyteller’s live offerings, watch ‘Survivor Blues’ here.
A multitude of quality local acts will join Cory Branan’s anticipated inaugural Australian tour. Tasmania’s gritty and articulate Lincoln Le Fevre is locked and loaded for the Melbourne show, and Newcastle’s Jen Buxton will bring her moving, introspective tunes to Newcastle and Sydney. More local artists to follow. Join Cory Branan and (new) friends on a hard-as-nails narrative musical journey you’ll not soon forget.
