Australia’s biggest music festival is returning for another rollicking year. The 2020 instalment Tamworth Country Music Festival is set to be a monolithic affair. The festival boasts a seismic roster of over 700 performers across 2,800 events and 120 venues.

There will be a bunch of super special performances taking place during the festival. Country legend Kasey Chambers will be reuniting with her original band, and performing her landmark debut The Captain in full.

Okka legends Cold Chisel will be swinging through TCMF as part of their Blood Moon tour.  “They’re as far from country as you can expect,” explains festival general manager Barry Harley. “But they’ve chosen to play Tamworth because they know good music is good music.”

There will also be a momentous celebration of one of Australia’s most beloved songwriters, Joy McKean on her 90th birthday. A Concert For Joy will see a stellar lineup of some of the brightest names in music band together to pay homage to her legacy. Expect rapturous sets from Paul Kelly, Troy Cassar-Daley, Beccy Cole, and stacks more Don Walker.

Many of the events taking place at TCMF are free, you can check out the entire roster of artist’s set to play here.

There are a bunch of other fun events that take place during the festival. One highlight is the Toyota Country Music Busking Championships, where 400 buskers mercilessly try and win over the crowd at Peel Street. Don’t expect any half-pai ‘Wonderwall’ covers either. These guys are the real McCoy. If you feel like you’ve got the chops, have a whack at the championship yourself.

The Tamworth Country Music Festival takes place from Friday, January 17th through to Sunday, January 26th. For more information, head to tcmf.com.au.
