When you think about it, being in a band is just playing music with a bunch of your friends. Sometimes if you’re lucky, band members can find romance, and suddenly you go from playing in a band with friends, to playing in a band that also contains your best friend. That’s exactly what happened to two members of Brisbane’s Cub Sport earlier today.
Taking to Twitter, the group shared an image of band members Tim Nelson and Sam Netterfield announcing their engagement. “WE’VE GOT SOME EXCITING NEWS!!!,” the post began. Before imploring Prime Minister Malcolm Turnbull to legalist same-sex marriage. “Hey @TurnbullMalcolm we’ve got a wedding to plan – how about we hurry up and legalise it?!”

We’ve reported in the past about how Cub Sport have been previously attacked for their stance on LGBTQ issues, but thankfully, the vast majority of fans and commenters who have responded to this joyous news have been congratulatory and respectful towards the group and the newly engaged couple.
While we’re not yet sure if Cub Sport are going to go on a tour to celebrate this great news (a national engagement party, perhaps?), we can remain sure that this is some of the sweetest news to happen in the Aussie music scene this month. Congrats Sam and Tim!
