Melbourne’s dirtiest blues punks are finally releasing their debut EP and ‘Cutlery’ is the lead cut from it. Singer Jack Davies denounces the devil from a rock n’ roll pulpit like a demented Southern preacher spewing forth fire and brimstone over an insistent rhythm and guitar licks straight from the depths of the hell.
Summoning Nick Cave at his ‘Tupelo’ era swampy best, the song conjures up the demonic ranting of Jack White at his most gravelly; while the backing vocals coo away in a menacing fashion, adding a sprinkling of honey over what might be one of the dirtiest, most swashbuckling singles of the year.
