It’s kinda hard to stand out amongst the hundreds of bands in Australia aping the jangly folk and harmonies of Mumford & Sons. After all, we were the first country in the world to elevate them to the level of stars and America has only been catching up, so why wouldn’t bands want to keep giving the Aussie punters what they want? There’s plenty of buzz around Husky and it’s one thing to have the sound but having the songs to back it up is where many bands fall down.

Husky – Dark Sea by Liberation Music (Aus)

Luckily, ‘Deep Sea’ doesn’t see Husky struggling to deliver. Haunting vocals, almost brittle acoustic guitars in the intro and then lush harmonies unleashing one of the best lyrical hooks of the month. It may not be based on the most original of chord progressions but let’s face it, a hook is a hook and this single will do Husky nothing but good.
