There’s bad news for fans of rock music, with Dave Grohl revealing he isn’t actually making an appearance on the new Queens Of The Stone Age album.
Back in June, ZZ Top guitarist and singer Billy Gibbons revealed that he will be making an appearance on the new Queens Of The Stone Age album alongside Dave Grohl.
“Just one month ago I was making a record with Queens Of The Stone Age”, Gibbons revealed “and Dave Grohl was also taking part and he decided to have a big barbecue.
“So there was this interesting gathering. So, we spent one hour telling stories, great stories remembering these lovely guys.”
While it’s worth noting that Gibbons did not explicitly say that Grohl was recording parts for the new record, fans quickly took this to mean that the new QOTSA album might see the Foo Fighters frontman hitting the skins once again.
Although Grohl played drums on 2013’s Songs For The Deaf, his last appearance on the group’s records came in 2013 when he sat behind the kit for a few tracks on …Like Clockwork.

However, in a new interview with NME, Dave Grohl has shut down these rumours, confirming he has indeed been spending time with Queens Of The Stone Age frontman Josh Homme, just not in the studio.
“You know, I never fucking mentioned that I’m on the new Queens record,” Grohl began. “I’m not on the new Queens record.
“You know what Josh and I have been doing together? Riding motorcycles and eating waffles. That’s it. Let me tell you, it’s a fun morning. We’ve done it more than a few times and it’s pretty fucking great.
“I wish I was on the new Queens album. I fucking love playing with Josh. He’s one of my best friends, but at the moment it’s just motorcycles and waffles.”
In related news, the Foo Fighters could be set to enter the studio soon, with Taylor Hawkins revealing that the band will likely have a new record out in 2020.
While it remains to be seen whether or not this album will arrive on schedule, Dave Grohl did however raise excitement levels recently after revealing that there could still be a future for he and Josh Homme in Them Crooked Vultures.
“Technically we’re still a band,” Grohl explained. “We practise once every decade, and we’re coming up on another decade aren’t we? I don’t have any official news but there’s always something cooking.”
