Dave Grohl appears to have his sights set on a new documentary series, with Brandi Carlile revealing what the Foo Fighters frontman is up to.
Earlier this year, the Foo Fighters’ Chris Shiflett revealed that 2019 was going to be a bit of a quieter one for the band, as they took some time off after relentless touring around the world last year.
However, while the band still have a few live shows up their sleeve this year (including a tour with Weezer and Tenacious D), drummer Taylor Hawkins has been spending time playing with a new supergroup.
Recently though, it seems that Dave Grohl has been working with Brandi Carlile, with the pair recently performing an impromptu busking session outside of Seattle’s Pike Place Market.
Speaking to Rolling Stone recently, Brandi Carlile opened up about spending time with Dave Grohl, including how strange their busking experience was.
“It was really surreal, because I used to stand right there with all my hopes and my dreams and the two chords that I knew, trying to make gas money,” Carlile explained.

Soon, Brandi Carlile also revealed that in the time they spent together Grohl revealed he was going to be working on a brand new project soon.
“I don’t totally want to give it away, but he came out to my house to talk to me about something he’s working on. It’s more like one of his doc-series,” she explained. “We hung out and rode four-wheelers around my house all day, cooked dinner and did shots of tequila — just had a great time.”
“We talked about and went to a few key places that were important in both of our lives, and places he used to hang out with Kurt [Cobain] and the guys.”
“We have the same guitar tech that Nirvana used, Ernie Bailey,” she added. “We talked about some of their scallywag shenanigans. Then we went to some restaurants and bars I used to play and busk at.”
Although we now know that Dave Grohl is set work on a new documentary, the question remains; “What is it going to be about?”
While we’ve seen him work on a number of filmed projects in the past, including 2013’s Sound City, Foo Fighters: Sonic Highways, and PLAY, we’re unsure if this new project will follow in the same vein, or if take a completely new approach.
Whatever the case, it looks like we’ll find out sooner rather than later about what’s in store for both Dave Grohl and his eager fans.
