Dave Grohl has again teamed up with a bunch of musical icons, performing drums for Beck and the Yeah Yeah Yeahs recently.
Early last month, grunge fans undoubtedly scored a massive dose of FOMO when it was revealed that Dave Grohl teamed up with the likes of Beck at a backyard gig.
The gig in question was a political fundraiser for Democratic candidate Aftab Pureval, and it also featured appearances from The Bird And The Bee and former Beck bassist Justin Meldal-Johnsen. Now, Dave Grohl has turned up to another political concert on America’s west coast.
As Rolling Stone notes, Los Angeles’ Palace Theatre hosted another ‘Swing Left’ concert on Thursday night, which again featured Dave Grohl teaming up with Beck and The Bird And The Bee.
Designed as a last-minute attempt to encourage US voters to vote for the Democratic party in Tuesday’s midterm elections, the concert also featured a number of other high-profile names, including Moby, Rufus Wainwright, Martha Wainwright, and Tim Heidecker.
While Dave Grohl performed an extended version of Beck’s ‘Where It’s At’, the Foo Fighters frontman didn’t stop there, teaming up with the Yeah Yeah Yeahs’ Karen O and Nick Zinner for a rendition of ‘Heads Will Roll’.
“I just wanted to say that I’m so happy to be here and support the swing left,” Karen O said before the performance. “Are you ready to fucking win on Tuesday? Because I’m ready to win!”
Of course, Dave Grohl’s involvement in a political event such as this should come as no surprise, given his outspoken attitude towards US President Donald Trump.
“I am ashamed of our president,” Grohl explained back in April. “I feel apologetic for it when I travel.”
“Listen, who cares what I think about guns or religion, but the thing about Trump that stings the most is this: he just seems like a massive jerk,” Grohl continued.
“I know a lot of wonderful people who don’t share my politics and you can bet tomorrow night in the stadium not everyone will share the same opinion or hold the same views.”
“But when I sing ‘My Hero’ they will all sing it with me. In the three hours that I am on stage, none of that matters.”
