It truly is the golden era of music biopics. It was only a matter of time before the legacy of David Bowie was immortalised on the silver screen. Stardust, a biopic about David Bowie is in the works, and the actor that is penned to portray The Chameleon of Rock has been revealed. Actor-musician Johnny Flynn (Beast, Clouds of Sils Maria) will tackle the role of Bowie.

The film will explore the story of David Bowie during his first trip to America in 1971, a trip that inspired the creation of Bowie’s most iconic alter-ego, Ziggy Stardust. Flynn will be accompanied by Marc Maron (Almost Famous), who will take on the role of Bowie’s publicist— and Jena Malone (Donnie Darko) who will portray Bowie’s first wife, Angie.

As Deadline reports, the film will be penned by Christopher Bell (The Last Czars) and directed by Gabriel Range (I Am Slave). Principle photography is set to begin in June 2019.

Last month, it was revealed that David Bowie’s first televised performance as Ziggy Stardust was unearthed. Read more about it now.
