30 years on from when Destiny’s Child first formed under the name ‘Girl’s Tyme’, the legendary pop trio is reportedly in talks for a reunion tour.

Beyoncè Knowles, Kelly Rowland and Michelle Williams, who together have sold more than sixty million records as Destiny’s Child, could be hitting the stage as soon as coronavirus restrictions allow it.

The report comes from The Mirror, who cite a source saying “there’s been tentative talks between all three [members].”

“They’ve always said they would get back together one day when the time is right – and there is no time like the present.”

According to the source, Knowles, Rowland and Williams are keen to announce something as soon as a coronavirus vaccine has been developed.

“Nothing has been signed off yet, but as soon as a vaccine is ready and the pandemic is over, watch out for an announcement. It would really lift fans’ spirits.”

Originally forming with Knowles, and Rowland, as well as LaTavia Roberson and LeToya Tuckett, Destiny’s Child released their second album The Writing’s On The Wall in 1999. The record skyrocketed the trio to global acclaim with #1 singles ‘Say My Name’ and ‘Bills, Bills, Bills’.

Robertson and Luckett were replaced in the year 2000 as Michelle Williams joined the band, and they’d go on to release Surivor (2001) and Destiny Fulfilled (2004) before breaking up for the first time in 2006.

If they do reunite, it won’t be for the first time. They’ve come together to play the 2013 Super Bowl halftime show and Coachella in 2018.

It will also make sense based on comments from Beyoncè’s dad Mathew Knowles. Before lockdown, he dropped the news that the trio were keen to collaborate again for their 30th anniversary, while working on a Destiny’s Child musical.

“…it would be great to consummate that with a Destiny’s Child tour, or integrate a tour into that activity.”

We’ll be watching this space eagerly!
