Former Volumes guitarist and band co-founder Diego Farias has died, according to a social media update from his brother, Gus Farias.

In recent news announced on the Volumes social media channels, band co-founder and former guitarist Diego Farias has passed away at the age of 27.

Both Diego and his brother Gus were involved in the Los Angeles-based prog-metalcore act until only recently, with Gus taking the reigns as the vocalist of the outfit. Both members parted ways with the heavy group near the end of the last year, with Diego confirming his departure in a message on Jan. 29. The month prior, Gus claimed he was “kicked out” of Volumes.

The sudden announcement of Diego’s passing on Gus’ social media channels sent a major shockwave through the underground music community. Many fellow musicians and fans have all taken to a multitude of mediums to pour out news and tributes for the late rocker.

“RIP to my brother Diego,” Gus shared. “I love you I can’t believe I’m typing this.” In a separate message, he added, “We toured the world together we lived the dream together I love you, Diego. Rest in paradise little brother you now live thru me.”

Volumes issued their own statement via Instagram, which you can have a look at below.

“We are absolutely devastated by the tragic passing of Diego Farias. We are trying to cope and process this as it all seems so surreal. We send our love and thoughts to his brothers Gus and Andres, his mother and father, and his entire extended family.

As we collect our thoughts we will then be able to properly convey them more, but for now… we love you, Diego, Rest in Power.

– Volumes.”

The most recent Volumes release was ‘holywater’, which came out just this year.
