A DJ in the US has found themselves at the centre of a rather humorous incident, having refused a request from former President Bill Clinton to turn down the “late-night vibes”.
If we’ve learnt anything over the years, it’s that politicians seem to enjoy music far more than we’d expect them to. Why, Labor leader Anthony Albanese is a known fan of rock music, and the staff of Hilary Clinton once found themselves watching The Dandy Warhols and Silversun Pickups in Adelaide back in 2012.
However, Clinton’s husband seems to have come a long way since his days as a sax-playing head of state, reportedly trying to kill the vibe during a recent dinner.
According to Page Six, the Clintons found themselves at New York restaurant The Maidstone on Friday night, where they were joined by political figures and – for some reason – Jon Bon Jovi.
Although the venue provides “late-night vibes” on Fridays and Saturdays for its 10th anniversary, the noise apparently became too much for Bill Clinton, who tried to get the DJ to turn the tunes down a tad.
“Bill asked the staff to turn down the music as the late-night music scene was just beginning because there were still people having dinner [and their table was deep in political discussion],” a witness reported.
“They were told ‘no’ by the DJ. The wait staff was pleading with the DJ to turn down the music, but the DJ wasn’t having it.”
However, Bill Clinton seemed to have been appeased somewhat by the DJ, with a second witness reportedly dropping Fleetwood Mac’s ‘Don’t Stop’ into the mix soon after; a tune that served as the theme to Clinton’s successful 1992 presidential campaign.
While we can’t speak as to whether the DJ was being too loud, or if Clinton was being a little too sensitive when it came to the venue’s musical provisions, we’re pretty sure the ex-president won’t be following in the footsteps of Barrack Obama and adding the DJ to his Summer Playlist.
