Country star Dolly Parton and rapper Queen Latifah are pouring themselves a cup of ambition and teaming up to star in a film for Warner Bros owned Alcan Entertainment. In a somewhat predictable storyline, their characters join forces to save a small-town gospel choir from disbanding.

Written and directed by Todd Graff, the film sees Latifah play a mother of two teenagers who takes charge of the Pacashau Gospel Choir following the unexpected death of its choir director. Parton, meanwhile, will appear as the choir director’s widow hoping to take over her late husband’s position. Latifah was nominated for an Oscar for her role in Chicago, while Parton returns after a long absence from the screen, her best work happening in the 1980s and 1990s with 9 – 5 and Steel Magnolias respectively.
