The last year, and especially the last few months, has seen a huge rise in the amount of music news relating to Donald Trump. To be fair, it’s easy to see why; with a whole lot of attention on the man, news has been surfacing everywhere as to musician’s encounters with him, or just the amount of musician’s coming out to protest his presidency. One artist we’re yet to see protest Trump is One Direction, which is odd considering the bombshell they just dropped about their time in one of his hotels.

According to NME, the boy band were staying at the Trump Tower, a five-star hotel located in New York City, during one of their visits to the city. As  Liam Payne told Rollacoaster, Trump wasn’t exactly too happy with their response to his request to meet his daughter.

“Trump actually kicked us out of his hotel once,” Payne said in his interview. “You wouldn’t believe it. It was about [meeting] his daughter. He phoned up our manager and we were asleep. He said ‘well, wake them up’ and I was like ‘no’ and then he wouldn’t let us use the underground garage. Obviously in New York we can’t really go outside. New York is ruthless for us.”

“So he was like, ‘OK, then I don’t want you in my hotel.’ So we had to leave,” Payne added.

While we aren’t sure exactly which of his daughters wanted to meet One Direction, we can definitely chalk up their act of defiance as a win for them.
