Get your flannel shirts and ripped jeans ready, because Double J are going to be taking you on a trip back in time next month when they relive the ’90s.

You might remember how last year, Double J kicked off a pretty major celebration of the decade that gave us alternative rock. In addition to looking at the greatest Aussie songs of the decade, they also looked at the most overlooked tracks, and even threw a huge party featuring some of the greatest artists of the time.

Now, they’re getting ready to do it all again.

Yes, all next month, Double J are going to throwing back to the decade that gave us memorable bands, festivals, and TV shows that we wish would make a comeback.

Kicking off on Thursday evenings, Double J will be playing nothing but hits from the ’90s on weekends throughout September, while the mid-way point will see them counting down the 50 best Aussie albums of the decade.

But it doesn’t stop there, with Moloko, 2Pac, Powderfinger, and Radiohead becoming the subject of weekly J Files, and Caz Tran looking at some classic albums from Elastic, Jamiroquai, Cypress Hill, and The Presidents of the United States of America.

Saturday arvos will see Richard Kingsmill delivering classics from certain years each week, before topping it off with a show all about the greatest one hit wonders from the ’90s. We’ll also be hearing massive live sets from Hole, Silverchair, Sonic Youth, and Pearl Jam through Live At The Wireless, while Zan Rowe will be doing a Take 5 with some of the decade’s biggest names.

To top it off though, September’s artist in residence will be none other than Killing Heidi’s Ella Hooper, who will be delivering the goods every Sunday afternoon.

“I’ll be playing tracks that are special to me, stuff that is important from the era and songs you’ve completely forgotten about,” Hooper explained. “Plus, some special guests coming in each week. People you’ll know and love.”

For a full run-down of what’s going on at Double J this month, be sure to hit up their website, and stay tuned for further details about the coming weeks.

There’s no word yet as to whether Double J will be throwing another huge party, or releasing another massive four-disc compilation album, but we wouldn’t complain if they did!
