Finally, the wait is over for heavy music fiends fanging for their yearly dose of pulverising riffs and bone-shattering breakdowns. Download Festival has finally unveiled it’s 2020 lineup and my god, it is impressive.
In news that has transported me into another dimension, newly-reformed seminal emo-pop idols My Chemical Romance will be headlining the whole affair. The band announced a one-off show in Los Angeles last week and we’ve been jittering with the hope that they would bring their sacred reunion down under. My Chemical Romance’s Australian appearance is a Download Festival exclusive.

They’ll be joined by Sacramento heroes Deftones. The band recently confirmed that the follow-up to 2016’s Gore will “definitely be out next year.” We’re hoping that somehow, the nu-metal stars align and we’re able to indulge in a live Deftones set with a side-serving of new music.
You’ve got four months to work on your hand mobility before you will be tasked with fervently finger-pointing your way through a set of Jimmy Eat World hits. I don’t know about you but I am trying to throw my back out to ‘The Middle’, ‘Bleed American’, and ‘Sweetness.’
There are a stack more international heavyweights set to descend on the Download stage, such as Clutch!, Ministry, In Flames, Testament, Alestorm, Carcass, The HU, Lacuna Coil, and heaps more.
Whilst hometown heroes Hands Like Houses, Stand Atlantic, Bodyjar, Redhook, Clowns, Plini, and Dregg will be holding it down for Australia.
If you bought tickets for Download Festival last year, you’ll be able to acquire tickets for this year’s instalment from Friday, November 8th at 11 am through till Monday, November 11th at 11 am.
