Adelaide-bred duo, The Dunes consists of Stacie Reeves and Matt Reiner and is an offshoot of Adelaide band Matt Reiner and the Aunt Sallys. According to the band’s Facebook description, Matt was also known for his “crafting of melodic and folky pop songs” but with the addition of Reeves, have now opted towards exploring darker, more atmospheric musical landscapes.
‘Dress to Kill’ paints pictures of vast open deserts, long, never-ending roads and carefully depicts the loneliness which such places may create. This is reinforced by Reeves’ longing vocals, and Reiner’s yearning slide guitar. The track being as stark in nature as it is makes me think the song would be suited to the soundtrack for a brutal movie such as Chainsaw Massacre or Wolf Creek…
