Some of Aussie music’s most beloved acts like Dune Rats and Skegss are rallying together for a show to benefit Sydney’s Crowbar.

That’s right, the likes of Ruby Fields and Hockey Dad will be joining Dune Rats and Skegss to perform at the Save Crowbar benefit show on Saturday, May 29th.

Back in March, the popular live music venue announced it would be relying on fundraising to keep afloat following the damaging effects of lockdown restrictions.

“Live music venues around the country are closing down or just holding on by a thread. We are all battling negotiations with landlords, restrictions and reduced income, facing the end of JobKeeper and struggling to pay ongoing fixed costs and debt that keeps piling up,” the venue said in a statement.

“As one of the first industries to close and the last to open, we’ve been hoping that State and Federal Governments might come to our aid, but we’re no longer in a position to patiently wait.”

“And so, we need your help. Without it, we face making the gut-wrenching decision of having to stop the music and close our doors permanently.”

The playing order of the acts will be determined by a spinning wheel on the night, which will also include a DJ set from DZ Deathrays as well as performances by the Terrys and Megafauna.

“We’ve known [Crowbar owners and operators] Trad and Tyla for over 10 years and what Crowbar has done for local bands and the music scene in Brisbane and Sydney is second to none,” said Dune Rats‘ Danny Beus (via Music Feeds).

“In the current climate of the Australian music industry we really need to support the venues that have supported us for so many years and keep them open so we always a stage to play on.”

Tickets for the show are on sale via Crowbar’s website, which also features a link to the venue’s Crowfunder page where you can donate directly.
