My Echo are four musicians with a desire to carve their mark have put their money where their music is to release a debut record that speaks from the rock’n’roll soul of the Australian music scene.

My Echo describes their music as “rock’n’roll laid of a solid foundation of punk rock”.

With the self funded EP The New Approach in tow, My Echo will be hitting the road throughout Australia this June supporting Trial Kennedy on their Final Shows Tour.

You’re touring with Trial Kennedy this month, how did this opportunity arise?

We have known the TK boys for a few years now after playing with them while in previous bands. After hearing about My Echo, they were kind enough to put us on a show earlier this year. They were extremely supportive of our new direction after watching our set, and were kind enough to add us on to their Final Tour.

Your planning to head back to the studio to work on your debut full length album. Are you hoping to keep in the rhythm of The New Approach EP or steer away to something different?

There are definitely elements of The New Approach EP within the new songs. However, we really feel as if we have found our sound in these new works. We are constantly writing and trying to push ourselves. We can’t wait to share what we are putting together.

It’s been noted that your music is all self-produced and funded.  That’s a pretty great achievement. Are you guys happy with your progress so far?

It may sound cliche and old, but we have been through the ups and downs of a label and really just wanted to create something we were proud of, and most importantly had artistic control of. What is the point of creating someone else’s idea of a ‘good record’?

Our basic idea was to keep it in house so that we could also promote our friends work(artwork, production, etc) at the same time.

With the release of the EP, and some amazing shows in the last few months, we couldn’t be happier right now!

What is your band’s music the best soundtrack for?

Any good, honest gathering of people enjoying good music, good times and good beer!

You must answer this question honestly or we steal your rider. What and where was the first gig you went to?

Darcy – Silverchair @ Bendigo Basketball Stadium
Brenton – Paul Kelly @ Bendigo Town Hall
Henry – For Amusement Only @ Traralgon

Do you prefer to play at intimate venues or at festivals?

Being relatively new to the scene still, we haven’t had a great opportunity to play festivals.

But put us in a nice packed room, where the people are happy and the beer is cold, and we feel right at home.

What has been the stand out gig the band has played so far?

Our EP launch last year was definitely a highlight. A sold out room and an amazing vibe. We were blown away.

A show a few months back at the Espy with King Cannons was also amazing! Great band and great people.

We are all big fans of Trial Kennedy as well. So of course, sharing the stage with them on this Final Tour is a complete honour for us all!

How do you like your music? On digital, CD, or vinyl (maybe even cassette)?

As long as our music is being heard, that is the important thing. If we could add another answer in, we would probably say LIVE!

Who are your most notable influences?

With all of us listening to such a broad range of music, our influences are many!

Noteable bands and artist would be The Living End, Paul Kelly, Against Me!.

Any other show plans in 2012?

We are currently in the process of booking some home town shows (Melbourne), which will take place after our current tour. We are going to being focusing on writing for the most part.
