The Eddie Vedder Australian Tour 2014 has added extra dates due to popular demand.
The Pearl Jam vocalist is sticking around following the band’s headline slot at the Big Day Out for an exclusive solo tour and following overwhelming demand from the Pearl Jam Ten Club and Chugg Entertainment pre-sales today, new shows have been added to the schedule on the eve of the General Public ticket sale.
The new Eddie Vedder solo shows will take place on Wednesday 12th February at the State Theatre in Sydney and Melbourne on Wednesday 19th February at the Palais Theatre.
There have only been several occasions over the years where Vedder has stepped into solo mode, including his soundtrack contributions to the films of friend Sean Penn on Dead Man Walking (1995) and I Am Sam (2001). This collaboration most notably came to fruition in 2007 when Penn engaged Vedder to write and record the full soundtrack for his film adaptation ofInto The Wild – from John Krakauer’s best selling novel of the same name.
Vedder won a swag of awards and critical acclaim for the soundtrack, including a 2008 Golden Globe Award for the song Guaranteed. He was also nominated for a Golden Globe for his contributions to the film’s original score. Furthermore in 2008, Guaranteed received a Grammy nomination and in 2009 Rise received a nomination for Best Rock Vocal Performance.
After the release of the Into The Wild soundtrack, Vedder embarked on a multiple solo tours across North America, Europe and Australia – garnering stellar reviews and sell outs across the board, the tour further cemented his claim as a bona fide solo artist in his own right, following which, Vedder embarked on another chapter with the release of his second solo studio album, Ukulele Songs. Yet another critically acclaimed project
Bringing to the stage a swathe of songs from his solo records, as well as some Pearl Jam favourites no doubt, Australian audiences will stop in their tracks when Eddie Vedder takes the stage in Perth, Sydney, Melbourne, and Brisbane – where his opening date at the QPAC Concert Hall overlaps with the opening date of Soundwave 2014.

The overlap has led Soundwave/Big Day Out promoter AJ Maddah to tease that Vedder could make a guest appearance at the hard and heavy festival. “I have a good feeling we may just see your guy make a SW appearance since he is tight w [Alice In Chains] and [Stone Temple Pilots]!” Maddah tweeted to a fan recently.
Whether making a festival cameo, or performing his own headline sideshows, Eddie Vedder is not to be missed!
