This isn’t the first time Red Hot Chili peppers have covered the 1978 classic, the band performed the same song last week during a performance in Singapore. It is heartwarming to see music legends band together to pay honour one of the greats.

This isn’t the only on-stage invasion Eddie Vedder took part in during Ohana Festival. During The Strokes Friday Night headlining set, Vedder rushed the stage to join the band on two tracks. The first, a cover of Pearl Jam’s 1998 Chicago Cab track ‘Hard To Imagine’, and the second, a performance of The Strokes’ 2006 First Impressions of Earth hit ‘Juicebox.’

Ric Ocasek passed away last month at age 75. His cause of death was ruled to be heart disease. In a statement posted to The Cars social media account, the Ocasek family shared that “he had peacefully passed on” during the night.

To celebrate the life and musical legacy of Ocasek, we put together a list of our ten favourite The Cars songs, which you can read now.
