Sometimes fans get a little bit too much for artists to handle when they’re performing, the terrifying attack of a woman on stage last week at a hiphop concert an example of this, and as video surface emerges, there too has been a similar incident in the UK.
Rou Reynolds, the lead singer for British post-hardcore/electrocore outfit Enter Shikari has been caught on film belting the shit out of a punter at their gig in Portsmouth, UK last week, as Music Feeds point out.
The very short snippet shows an enraged Reynolds react to a fan who allegedly made a grab for this man-parts, throwing 36 crazy fists at the punter, punching them repeatedly.
Reynold’s has since commented on the matter via the initial YouTube video that showed the incident, “After performing the end of Radiate in the crowd some people behind me began trying to pull my trousers down,” he continued. “I tried to push them away a few times but due to the density of the crowd this didn’t work. It then progressed (perhaps fuelled by some sort of stubborn oneupmanship) and I began to have my buttocks and my… er, ‘undercarriage’ groped.

“At this point I spun round pretty shocked and intimidated and asked angrily if they ‘wanted a punch’ – lighter approaches having not worked! – hoping his would stop it. That seemed to do the opposite and gave them more vigour.”
From here, Reynold’s makes claim that the person then groped him, to which he physically laid into them with full force.
Acknowledging his wrongs, the frontman continued, “Obviously violence is never the answer and I’m very unhappy personally with how I acted.”
Naturally, both Reynold’s and Enter Shikari have received comments both accosting and praising his actions, many attesting that his actions were completely out of hand, dangerous and plain stupid. To this, he responded, “P.S. To address the ‘they paid to see you, so it doesn’t matter what they did…’ argument; the ticket price for an Enter Shikari show doesn’t include free access to my gonads I’m afraid. You’re not a doctor. And I’m not a prostitute.”
In closing, he writes, “We appreciate & respect every single person that supports us and all we ask in return is respect back. The way this person/people acted was not respectful whatsoever.”
You can see the pretty hairy footage below however we do warn, the content is violent:
