An Eskimo Joe Australian Tour 2013 has been announced to coincide with the premiere of the band’s new video to accompany their single ‘Got What You need’, taken from the band’s crowdfunded sixth studio album, Wastelands, which gained unprecedented support from fans, eventually raising over $60,000 towards the Pozible campaign.
Following an intimate acoustic tour of the country in May and giving fans a taste of their new electronic-leaning direction, now the multi-platinum Perth trio are hitting the road for a string of dates to support their new album, released through Dirt Diamonds Productions/Inertia on Friday 20th September.
After giving fans a taste of their new synth-laden sound in ‘Running Out Of Needs’ last month, the band have now released the music video for the first official single ‘Got What You Need’, which was featured in a Tone Deaf mixtape, demonstrating that “it’s plainly obvious that the Perth trio have discovered the joys of electronic-shaped pop. The trimmings may seem different, but the core hooks and user-friendly appeal that regularly floats Eskimo Joe to the top of the charts is still there.”
“This song was written to console my wife who was feeling the pressures of the outside world,” says Eskimo Joe’s Joel Quartermain. “It was really affecting her so I started writing this tune to say, no matter what’s going on, when you come home and it’s just the two of us, it’s all good. On one hand the song content is tender and conversational, all the while the music is joyous and uplifting.”
Quartermain continues: “When I played the track to my brother, he mentioned that it was the sound of having a D&M with your girlfriend at a crazy house party. I think he kinda nailed it there. The clip was shot at a real party, so of course as the night wore on, there was plenty of that happening!”
Eskimo Joe’s Wastelands Album Tour sees them rolling around the country through October and November, taking in stages and venues at regional areas, metropolitan centres, and even a few coveted festival appearances.
