Triple J Unearthed are working in tandem with Splendour In The Grass to offer two very lucky up-and-coming Aussie bands the chance to perform at the incredible festival that’s headlined by the aforementioned, not to mention the likes of Mark Ronson, The Wombats, The Dandy Warhols, Boy & Bear so many, many more.
There are two competitions that Unearthed are holding, the first is open to any Australian band, calling for artists to upload their music to Unearthed’s online platform by Sunday 14 June, from there, judges will give the fresh music a listen and make their life-changing call from there. For any of y’all with music already spinning on Triple J Unearthed – worry not, you’re automatically in the running for this comp.
This is a massive opportunity for any rising act in Australia, the winner will be flown to Byron Bay, put in the guest camping section for the whole weekend and most excitingly – they will perform the very first set that opens the ultimate amphitheatre mainstage – amazing, right?

The second opportunity is a little more localised, with Unearthed and Splendour offering a performance slot to one artist/band from the Byron Bay region, which covers the local government areas of Byron, Ballina, Lismore, and Tweed, with preference given to acts based in the Byron Shire. It’s imperative that anyone entering this competition ensure they include their postcode and to set their region to North Coast.
Triple J through their Unearthed channel have a longstanding history of providing fresh Aussie acts with the ultimate performing stage at music festivals, and none will come bigger than this year’s Splendour In The Grass, which sold out at lightning pace and has seen previous winners such as Airling, Kingswood and Art vs Science all charm hearts on the big stage.
