Fall Out Boy drummer Andy Hurley has showed off his heavier side again, making a guest appearance with Polish death metal band Behemoth.

Last month, iconic Polish metalheads Behemoth released their eleventh album, I Loved You at Your Darkest. In an interview with Consequence Of Sound, frontman Nergal explained that “10 seconds of the new Behemoth album would probably kill 100 emo kids.”

Despite this statement, the group recently hooked up with Andy Hurley from Fall Out Boy, who of course are long considered to be one of the most popular bands in the pop-punk/emo revival of the mid-’00s.

Taking to Instagram recently, Nergal shared a video of the band’s soundcheck in Portland, Oregon on Wednesday night, where they were joined by Hurley for a brief performance of ‘Ora Pro Nobis Lucifer’.

“Have u heard about Fall Out Boy?! Andy has joined us during meet and greet soundcheck and jammed ORA PRO NOBIS with us!! Nailed it BIG FUCKIN’ TIME!”

While some might of course think the combination of Fall Out Boy and Behemoth is a rather strange mix, it’s worth nothing that Andy Hurley is in no way a stranger to the world of heavy metal.

Having started his musical career as a drummer for numerous heavy metal bands, Hurley hooked up with fellow Fall Out Boy member Joe Trohman and members of Anthrax, Every Time I Die, and Arma Angelus to form The Damned Things back in 2009.

Earlier this year, Anthrax’s Scott Ian revealed that the supergroup may have a follow-up to their 2010 debut – Ironiclast – on the way in the near future.

“We always knew with The Damned Things, it was always going to be something that we would get to do schedules permitting, because we are all in extremely busy bands,” he explained.

“But look, we’re all friends and we’re all in contact with each other on a regular basis and I can say that there is, possibly, a record, but that’s all I’m going to say about it.”

While Behemoth are set to hit up Australia next year for the 2019 Download Festival, there’s no word yet as to whether they’ll be bringing Andy Hurley along for the ride.
