Australian punk rock outfit FANGZ are calling it quits after seven years, announcing a final run of shows alongside the release of their farewell single, “VOID”.
The band, who formed in 2019, will wrap up their time together with four East Coast dates this December, stopping in Melbourne, Sydney, Brisbane and Newcastle before entering an indefinite hiatus.
Their final release, “VOID”, was produced by Daniel Antix (Stand Atlantic, RedHook, Pist Idiots) and mixed by Tim Maxwell (TOWNS, LOSER). The track delivers the band’s familiar mix of heavy riffs, pounding drums and melodic hooks, while its lyrics take on added significance in light of their decision to step away.
“‘VOID’ explores the lies we tell ourselves to avoid confronting uncomfortable truths. It’s about creating your own version of reality, convincing yourself you’re doing the right thing while ignoring the impact your actions have on those around you,” bassist Jameel Majam explained.
“At its core, the song explores the disconnect between words and actions, and the difficulty of admitting when something you once cared deeply about no longer feels the same. As we prepare to enter an indefinite hiatus, the song takes on a fitting new meaning, reflecting themes of honesty, self-awareness and knowing when it’s time to move on.”
Fans will have one last chance to catch the band live when their farewell tour kicks off at Melbourne’s Bergy Bandroom on December 11th. They’ll then head to Sydney’s Waywards on December 12th, Brisbane’s Black Bear Lodge on December 18th and Newcastle’s Stag & Hunter on December 19th.

The announcement comes just a year after FANGZ released their debut album, Shui. The record debuted at No. 1 on the ARIA Australian Albums Chart and No. 8 on the overall ARIA Albums Chart, marking a career milestone for the band.
Across their seven-year run, FANGZ released three EPs, a full-length album and numerous singles, building a following through their energetic live performances and relentless touring schedule.
They’ve shared stages with international acts including FIDLAR, Pennywise, The Bronx, Cancer Bats, Comeback Kid and He Is Legend, while also making appearances at festivals and selling out their own headline shows around Australia.
Beyond the music, FANGZ have become known for their unconventional antics. Among their more memorable achievements are completing an entire East Coast tour in just 24 hours, launching their own hot sauce, Fang Us Some Sauce, and establishing their own mini-festival, FANGZstock. Frontman Josh Cottreau also holds a Guinness World Record for eating 143 hard-boiled eggs in three minutes and ten seconds.
