Fleetwood Mac have dug deep for their latest tour of the country, recently performing a song not heard for almost 50 years.

Over the weekend, iconic musical outfit Fleetwood Mac made their long-awaited return to Australia. In the country for a series of shows that will keep them busy for almost a full month, the band kicked things off with a set full of classic tracks.

In addition to dishing out seven tracks from their famed Rumours album, new guitarist Neil Finn also managed to show off some of his classic material, serving up renditions of Crowded House’s ‘Don’t Dream It’s Over’, and Split Enz’ ‘I Got You’ while performing two dates in Perth.

However, fans at Sunday night’s show got to experience a song not heard live for almost 50 years, with the 1969 non-album single ‘Man Of The World’ making an appearance.

Released during the Peter Green era of the band, the original version of the track featured late musician Danny Kirwan on guitar, with only Mick Fleetwood and John McVie as the members of the band who have remained in the group since.

“We’re going to debut this song now which was one of [Green’s] great songs,” Neil Finn announced to the crowd before the song’s performance, via Rolling Stone. “It’s an honour and a privilege for me to play it for you.”

According to Setlist.fm, the last time that ‘Man Of The World’ was played live was in Helsinki back in September of 1969. Prior to that, only two recorded performances of the track have been noted, making this one special experiences for Aussie fans.

Fleetwood Mac are set to continue their Aussie tour this week, hitting up Sydney for the first of three performances on Saturday.
