Florence Pugh is undoubtedly one of the most brilliant, gifted actors of our time. The past few years have seen the 24-year-old  blossom into one of the most enamouring presences on the screen, 2019 saw Pugh deliver knockout performances in the critically-lauded Little Women and Midsommar.

As it turns out Pugh has a proclivity for Australian music. In a recent interview with ELLE UK, the actor was asked “What is the anthem to your life?” to which she gave a nod to Sydney indie-rock stalwarts Boy & Bear.

“Not the anthem but definitely a song that welcomes people to my life would be ‘Southern Sun’ by Boy & Bear.”

“It is one of my favourite songs and has been for a really long time.”

I don’t know about you but I’d be chuffed as chips if Pugh so much as acknowledged my existence. What an enormous compliment. You can watch the full interview below.

In a recent interview on Table Manners with Jessie Ware, Pugh revealed that she and her actor partner Zach Braff have turned to singing during isolation.

“We’re in The Hills at the moment and one of our good friends is really ill and in a coma in hospital,” Pugh explained.

“So what we’re doing, because it’s got all of this old hippy history (people play music from the hills that have been written here). We play it during the day, or in the afternoon or in the evening. So that’s kind of our tradition.

“It’s mainly in the evening and especially on the weekend,” she added. “Every Saturday, they do these isolated gigs on the top of people’s roofs. There will be like a singer singing one song over there and then another singer will be singing one song over there, so it’s really beautiful.”

2019 saw Boy & Bear release their career-best record, Suck on Light. A record that explored frontman Dave Hosking diagnosis with Chronic Dysbiosis, a debilitating condition involving an imbalance of bacteria in the gut.
