If you’ve ever spent hours attempting to perfect the Foo Fighters’ iconic riffs and licks, never quite seeming to get the sound just right, your chance to become an honorary member of the band has arrived.

Foo Fighters’ guitarist Chris Shiflett is looking to give fans the chance to purchase some of his own guitars in an attempt to “streamline” his collection. Shiflett has described the reason for the sale in a video on Reverb.com, saying he has an “excess” of the instrument, noting most of them sit around collecting dust.

“I have an excess of guitars that I’ve gotten over the years — I have more than I could even really play, and more than I do play. A lot of them sit around in our studio gathering dust,” says Shiflett.

“It would be fun to see these things find a home elsewhere, where somebody’s going to actually play them and put scratches on them. I’m going to take these 20 guitars and turn them into two guitars. That’s kind of my plan.”

The guitars up for grabs include the 2002 Gibson Firebird V Reissue used in the video for the Foo Fighters’ track ‘All My Life’, as well as the Fender Chris Shiflett Signature Telecaster Deluxe Prototype, with the sale beginning on July 19th.

Just recently the Foo Fighters were joined by John Travolta onstage for a rousing rendition of the Grease soundtrack classic ‘You’re The One That I Want’. The band were also joined by Red Hot Chilli Peppers drummer Chad Smith for the celebratory affair.
