Last year four ex-Ghost band members brought a lawsuit before the Swedish court against frontman Tobias Forge.

At the time the case was dismissed by the courts, with the ex-nameless ghouls ordered to pay roughly 1.3 million Kronor ( approx. $145,000 US) to cover Forge’s legal fees.

After the case was dismissed the ghouls involved (Simon Söderberg [Alpha], Mauro Rubino [Air)] Henrik Palm [Ether] and Martin Hjertstedt [Earth]) promised to appeal the case, with the huge financial losses no doubt causing all the members to walk away from the band with significantly decreased revenue.

Now the former members have come good on their promise, formally requesting a re-trial in their lawsuit against the frontman.

In a translated report from Swedish site NT.se, the site states that the members have “requested that the entire trial in the district court be rescheduled in an appeal to the court of appeal.”

“The lawyer accuses the commander Henrik Ibold, who was the court chairman of the district court, for being disloyal. The reason is that Henrik Ibold is a member of the Swedish Freemasonry Order.”

Is Tobias Forge bringing the freemason movement into the Swedish legal system?

The site goes on to report that “Tobias Forge is also a member of the same order…the lawyer (representing the former band members) believes that this circumstance may call into question the impartiality of the counsellor in the case.”

In short, the members believe that Mr Forge was given favourable treatment by the courts on grounds conspiracy-styled association with an underground organisation.

It reads like real life, suspicious heavy metal lyrical themes.

Mr Ibold told NT.se that he wasn’t aware of Mr Forge’s association with the order, and was confident that his decision in the case would be deemed appropriate.

The outcome for the request of a new trial is currently pending.

The case began last year, with the former bandmates claiming they had not received due compensation for the profits the band were making.
