The Hunter Valley NSW based Funk & Tunes Festival scheduled for September this year has been canned due to ticket sales stiffing. The festival was set to celebrate its fourth birthday with performances from the likes of The Cat Empire, Ash Grunwald, Muscles, Muph & Plutonic, Hungry Kids of Hungary and errr… Amy Meredith. Set in the wine growing region around Newcastle, it promised “great live bands and music that makes you want to move and groove. The perfect way to enjoy a day for the over 18’s, dancing, partying and indulging with friends in a laid back outdoor setting.” Alas that wasn’t to be and if you were one of the few people that picked up a ticket for the event you’ll need to seek a refund from the point of purchase. The organisers’ statement reads:
This year’s Funk n Grooves Festival, due to be held on September 10th has been cancelled due to poor ticket sales.
As local promoters it was our dream to bring something unique to this fantastic area. The festival site really gave us scope to not just produce a music concert but a true music festival with multiple stage areas, fantastic lighting, great local food and wine and a diverse line up of artists. I would like to thank all of the artists, suppliers and staff for their effort in trying to make this a reality.
Refunds for tickets will be available from the place of purchase from Monday 25th July.
