With a soft 70s rock sound, Jon Bryant knows how to connect with fans with just his silky soft voice that glides over spacey beats beautifully.

We sat down with Jon Bryant to get to know him a bit better and learn more about his love for his home town of Canada, which comes through in a variety of his tracks, such as ‘Light’.

Get To Know: Jon Bryant

How did your artist name come about?

I couldn’t get on board with any other name? Maybe I was lazy… I’ve always thought about changing it to Bron Giant tbh.

How would you describe your music to your grandma?

It’s easy with a touch of space sounds. Think Everly brothers meets bee gees.

Tell us about a few of your tracks; their titles and what they’re about?

‘Light’ is a song about moving to Vancouver post-divorce after a long and sometimes rough 4 years in Seattle.

‘Cultivated’ is about joining a cult and the feeling of uneasiness while inside.

‘Paradise’ is about escaping to Joshua Tree for a few weeks of writing and having fun in the desert.

What do you love about your hometown?

I grew up on the east coast of Canada. My hometown, Fall River (Nova Scotia) is pretty chill. Not a lot going on outside of the newly renovated Grocery store and a thousand bikers drinking Tim Hortons in the local parking lot. It’s got the kindest pure of heart people I know. I love the quaint and down-home feeling I get when I go home. It’s the kind of place where no matter if you’re pals or strangers, everyone waves to you. If you ask for directions they won’t tell you what you’re looking for, they’ll walk you there and then invite you for dinner.

Career highlight so far?

I’m a pretty big Curb Your Enthusiasm fan. A few weeks ago I was at a party in LA and in walked Larry David. I then was asked to play some music at the party. For a second I had this out of body experience wherein I felt like I was in the show… I watched him watching me with his arms crossed, furrowed brow, wondering if he was abruptly going to interrupt and express his disinterest saying something like “I think we’ve heard enough” in classic LD fashion… that was huge for me.

Fave non-music hobby?

Surfing, biking, photography, reading, UFO and Bigfoot enthusiast.

What’s on your dream rider?

Clase Azul, fresh watermelon, and french onion Sun Chips.

Dream music collaboration?

I’d love to work with one of the Paul’s (Simon, McCartney) Kanye, Joni Mitchell, Florence, Julia Michaels, beck, Justin Vernon, Lana D R, so many…

Where do you see yourself in 10 years?

writing music, with my sweetheart, drinking coffee.

What’s your go-to karaoke song

The only karaoke songs I ever sing are the duet ‘Don’t Know Much’ by Linda R and Aaron Neville and ‘The Dance’ by Garth brooks.
