Gay Paris delivers a truly dirty, blues-ridden rock and roll album that is rife with foul hearts and bleeding hands. Frontman Luke ‘Wailin H’ Monks does just that, and wails his way through 42 minutes of hard and fast distortion.

Opener “Ash Wednesday Boudoir Party” proliferates the two distinctive elements of the album, Monks’ growly vocals and their face-meltingly intense guitar riffs.

Stomper “Jubilee Down Crow Beach” was made for head banging, with the pumping snare beats having fun alongside a rapid guitar line.  “Trash Bird At Confessional” hints at the ever-present religious element that runs throughout The Last Good Party, with Monks’ preaching over the chorus vocals a nice touch to this rock number.

Religious effigies are rife throughout the release with ‘The Gospel According To Blood & Bone’ bringing a cool sexy sway alongside its scandalous storyline.

Other titles “Black Louie Forgives The Cardinal’s Sins” and “The Demarcation Of Joseph Hollybone” are riddled with explosive arrangements with the outfit’s key winning lyricism of pain, glory and death.

The record, though fun, is somewhat predictable after the first few tracks, and the swampy guitars and screaming vocals do tire easily.

Fans of powerful distortion and throat stripping cries of power will enjoy everything about The Last Good Party, and there are no apologies, because this album was made for exactly those hardcore lovers.

A saving grace is the thought of Gay Paris’ live show, where an album like this would come to light. The loud, explosive sound will leave you wiping the dirt and grease from the four-piece off you for weeks to come.

Though predictable, fans of early Motorhead and Clutch will enjoy this full-on rock party that’s complete with everything from sex, grime and even blasphemy. Get those horns up!
