Gorillaz’ new album, The Now Now, is set to be released in just a matter of days, but if you can’t wait, there’s a way for you to hear the new album right now now – just head on over to YouTube.
Earlier today, Gorillaz performed their new album in full to an eager crowd at The Boiler Room in Tokyo, Japan. To make things better though, the performance is being streamed on repeat until tomorrow morning, which means you can soundtrack your evening with some fresh new tunes from the English virtual group.
But you’d better be quick though, because once the time is up, it’ll be gone forever! (Or at least until someone uploads a poor quality rip in a few days time.)
Just under a month ago, Gorillaz announced that the group’s new album was set to be released on June 29th. Titled The Now Now, it is being released barely a year after the group’s last album, Humanz, which came following a period of time which saw frontman Damon Albarn reunite with Blur, and leaving fans wondering whether or not a follow-up to 2011’s The Fall would ever be released.
While Jamie Hewlett revealed last year that Gorillaz were planning to release a new album rather quickly to avoid falling into another period of inactivity, the group kept rather quiet about everything until this month, when it was reported that Albarn had left the new album in a London taxi.
Following the announcement of the new album, the group have been periodically sharing new music, whether it be by way of a Jack Black-featuring music video, or a live set in Germany. Nevertheless, we’ve basically heard the new record in full by this point, but we’re still keen on hearing the full studio versions of the tracks.
With The Now Now featuring a number of guest musicians, including Snoop Dogg and Blur guitarist Graham Coxon, we’re still no closer to figuring out whether that elusive Flume collaboration is set to feature on this new record. While we’ll find out for sure when the album finally drops this Friday, we’re eager to hear what one of Australia’s biggest names has been cooking up with the legendary Gorillaz.
