Slash referred to it as a “Spinal Tap intro” when apologising later in the night on Twitter, and there is no denying that Guns N’ Roses’ Melbourne show last night got off to a rocky start when a voice boomed over the sound system and welcomed the Melbourne audience as ‘Sydney’. Gulp!
The gaff was made by long term Gunners guitar technician McBob, who the band admitted made an error “after 30 years” of introducing them in various cities around the world. The crowd instinctively started cheering, before a sea of boos rang out.
The band then kicked into ‘It’s So Easy’, which it really should be – but clearly not.
