Aussie muso Harts is single-handedly making one-man-bands cool again. Since the talented young guitarist, synth player, and everything else player has only his own chops to rely on, he’s managed to pick up a few studio tricks and hacks.

Being the generous guy that he is, he shares his hacks with his fans via his Instagram page. Have a browse if you’re ever hungry for inspiration and see Harts turn his guitar into a horn section or even a bass guitar (no, really).

Expect to see a few of these tricks pop up on Hart’s next full-length album, which the muso is busy working on as we speak. He even recently offered triple j another preview of the record in the form of new single ‘Peculiar’.

“I was jamming in my bedroom studio with a guitar and a looper, just experimenting with chords and making grooves and rhythms. I formed the main progression loop and the song took off quickly from there,” Harts told triple j.

“I was kinda in a mood of questioning everything that day; in a mind set of not being able to see things for what they actually are. I think that reflected in the lyrics and the speed that everything came together.”

“I think the song ties together two contrasts of my sound and style on the album: the energetic-heavy guitar riff side with the more melodic soul side of my songwriting … the hip-hop feel is something that’s also strong on this new album.”

We first got a taste of Harts’ follow-up to his 2014 debut, Daydreamer, with lead single ‘All Rise (Play It Cool)’. According to Harts, ‘Peculiar’ is one of “the strongest melodic songs on the new album”.

Harts will also be performing as part of Bluesfest 2016.
