Music fans heading to the Mundi Mundi Bash are facing delays after heavy rain forced organisers to halt entry to the festival site.

Organisers confirmed on Wednesday afternoon (August 19th) that the festival’s roll-in remains on standby.

“Roll in remains on standby and the gates are closed. No patron vehicles can enter the Mundi Mundi Bash site until further notice,” a statement posted to Facebook reads. “Our crew are currently assessing conditions following several days of rain. Please stay where you are.

“If you are in Broken Hill or in transit, please remain where you are and do not travel to Mundiville until we confirm that roll in is open. Traffic control is in place in Silverton to enforce this.

“We will provide another update as soon as the assessment is complete. Please continue to monitor our official social media channels, the Bash App and Bash FM 99.9, and share this update with anyone planning to arrive today.”

The event is held around 40 kilometres north-west of Broken Hill. Some attendees queued overnight to enter the grounds, while others became bogged in the muddy conditions, according to ABC. Wilangee Road, which provides access to the festival site, has also been closed to all vehicles except four-wheel-drives.

The Bureau of Meteorology recorded 11.6 millimetres of rain at Broken Hill Airport across Monday and Tuesday, with further showers and possible thunderstorms forecast for the region.
