Australian hip hop artist, Hilltop Hoods, has tweeted frightening posts revealing they have had to evacuate their house to escape bushfires that are currently ravaging South Australia’s Adelaide Hills.
The first of three Tweets regarding the fires was seemingly calm and posted yesterday afternoon.
“SA people, if you’re in a suburb anywhere near Ironbank or Clarendon check @CFSAlerts to see if you need to evacuate,” it read.
The post was then shortly followed by one revealing that at least one of the band members is personally affected by the fires.
“I took this down the road from me on Sheoak Road. Please stay safe and listen to advice everyone,” the tweet reads.

The most up to date tweet is more urgent, but managed to make light of a scary situation, “We’ve evacuated. Told my daughters (2 & 4) to only pack what they needed and wouldn’t want to lose.
Amongst other things I’ve just found rocks in the 2yo’s backpack (not even good rocks) and the 4yo packed a framed picture of herself.”

While an evacuation order was downgraded this morning, authorities have warned that 2700 hectare of bush are still on fire.
As of now, The South Australian Country Fire Service has downgraded the Cherry Gardens fire from an emergency level to a watch and act after residents were forced to flee as the fire spread. So far it has damaged up to 13 properties.
A 60-year-old man was arrested and charged last night after a car chase in relation to a fire in Adelaide Hills. He allegedly also returned a blood alcohol result of 0.145 at the scene. He was charged with causing a bushfire, driving unlicensed, aggravated engagement in police pursuit, drink driving and altering/defacing number plates.
The unsettling news comes as a dampener after Hilltop Hills triumphant weekend where they claimed the number 9 with their song ‘I’m Good’ in triple j’s The Hottest 100 which took place on Saturday (23rd January).
