With a debut album holding two multiplatinum singles, and a third, ‘Waiting All Night’, which looks set to follow, it would seem Australians are already feeling the love for this new East London electronic quartet.

For those who know them for their drum and bass style or simply by that one famous song ‘Feel The Love’, then this album may be of surprise, particularly the smooth and soulful first track, ‘Home’. With it’s thick bass line and somewhat laid-back bluesy feel, it is far from the dance club hits we all know and love.

Though the three singles may sound and seem like they were pieced together to penetrate the mainstream market, the rest of the tracks on this album show musicians sticking to their preferred style.

In fact, this record has a bit of everything. From classic hip-hop and rap on ‘Hell Could Freeze to  lower tracks  lik ‘Hide’, and those that showcase their extreme versatility, such as ‘Right Here’, which starts off with a quite soft reggae feel.

Another key feature of this piece are the numerous powerful female vocals, from Emeli Sande to Angel Haze.

In world full of electronic and drum and bass music makers, this album cements Rudimental into their own individual, and stand out, category.

If you’re looking for a record with beats to take you on a journey of ups and downs, this might just be the one.
