With a lineup that features Blue Oyster Cult, Flamin’ Groovies, The Buzzcocks, Peter Case of The Nerves, and of course, the Hoodoo Gurus, there’s already enough reason for vintage rock fans to get excited about the recently announced Dig It Up! 2013.

Then along came the second lineup announcement, adding a whole swag of local acts, embracing a huge range of eras and styles in the name of all things rock (and definitely roll). With both Sydney and Melbourne getting their own customised additions with Lime Spiders, Super Wild Horses, and The Laurels for the former, and The Moodists, Straight Arrows, and Bored Nothing in the latter – just to name a few.

Now Hoodoo Gurus have handpicked another healthy selection of bands to their 2013 Invitational to sweeten the deal even more.

Joining the bill in both Sydney and Melbourne is Kim Salmon, prolific frontman for The Scientists/Surrealists/Precious Jules, who’s joining forces with drummer Leanne Cowie to tackle a heritage collection of Scientists stuff, promising selections from PinkBlood Red RiverSolid Gold Hell and more.

Sydney will be exclusively getting Tumbleweed, with all five original members delivering their stoner-fuzz goodness to the good, good people. They’ll be joined by Frowning Clouds, all the way from Geelong, to – in their own witty words – “fill in the gap The Kinks left behind.”

Melbourne festival-goers can look forward to a bit of a musical swap, with the addition of Sydney’s The Crusaders and The New Christs to the lineup. Both ready to show the city to the south what they’ve been missing out. Rounding out the new additions, is Harry Howard – former member of Crime & The City Solution and These Immortal Souls – playing with an esteemed lineup that includes Dave Graney, Clare Moore, and Edwina Preston.

On top of the quality music to treat your ears, Dig It Up! has something to treat the funnybones, adding a cast of unique comedians to the Green Room Lounge in Sydney and Spleen Bar in Melbourne.

Sydney will get some tour-hewn stories of the funny variety from Hard-Ons bassist Ray Ahn, as well sometime-gag writer, full-time funnyman Bruce Griffith, as well as Ahmed Zub (the warped creation of one Rodney Todd).

Melbourne can look forward to hilarious local Dave O’Neil (member of the ‘cult’ 80s band Captain Cocoa), giving his belly-laughing brand of stand-up, joining him on the comedy lineup is deadpan TV actor, comedy writer, and wizened witticist Bob Franklin.

Tickets for everything everywhere are on-sale now.
