After almost two decades away from the scene, Melbourne hard-rockers Horsehead are set to to reunite for a one-off show next year.

If you were involved in the Aussie music scene back in the ’90s, then there’s a fair chance that Melbourne’s Horsehead would showed up on your radar.

A powerful group of Aussie musicians, the quintet burst onto the scene with their self-titled debut in 1993, serving up iconic singles like ‘Oil And Water’ and ‘Liar’ along the way.

Following a performance on the 1993 Big Day Out Bill, the group found themselves going from strength to strength, touring with the likes of Midnight Oil, Alice Cooper, and Metallica, and scoring a slot on the legendarily ill-fated Alternative Nation festival in 1995.

Teaming up with Sylvia Massy on the recommendation of Tool’s manager, Horsehead recorded Onism in 1996, continuing their status as some of the most ferocious musicians on the Aussie scene.

After releasing Goodbye Mothership in 1999, the group split the following year, leaving their devoted fans to wonder what might come in the future.

In 2017, fans saw a bit of movement, with news that Horsehead had signed to Golden Robot Records, reissuing their material digitally throughout the following year, including a vinyl boxset called The Legacy, with liner notes written by iconic journalist Jeff Jenkins.

“Horsehead are my all-time favourite band,” Jenkins said at the time. “The shortest review I’ve ever written was a Horsehead live review. It said simply, ‘If there’s a better band in this world, I’d love to see it.’ Twenty-five years later, I stand by that statement.”

Now, following some more movement on social media in recent months (and a mostly whole reformation for Jeff Jenkins’ 50th back in May), Horsehead have revealed a 2020 hometown reunion performance.

“From 1990 through 2000 one band made a fierce and undeniable impression on the rock ‘n’ roll landscape… and then… gone,” an announcement video of the upcoming gig explained.

“Now 20 years on from one powerful and important performance, they’re back.”

Taking place at Richmond’s Corner Hotel on February 1st, 2020, the reunion gig will see Scott Kingman, Cameron McKenzie, Andrew McLean, Michael Vallance, and Craig Waugh saddle up once again to ride as the iconic Horsehead.

Tickets to this upcoming show are on sale now, so don’t miss your chance to relive a part of Aussie music history when the legendary Horsehead reunite for a one-off performance that will bring back all of those classic memories once again.
