The Queen is back! K-pop star HyunA has marked her return from hiatus by announcing a new mini-album, due later in January.

Oh, how long this wait has been! But at least it’s over!

Earlier in January, HyunA’s label P NATION announced that the singer would be back from her health-related hiatus in late January. True to their word, HyunA has dropped a teaser for her seventh mini-album, creating much-deserved buzz.

The minute-long teaser features clips and pictures of HyunA rehearsing, working, and performing. Intercut are snippets from an interview with her, where she reflects on the kind of person she is and the things she wants.

“As someone who is always curious about how people view me, [I am] conscious of the attention I receive. I want to be seen as a good person, not perfect. I think that’s who I am.” she says. “There’s always this need to embellish the truth, but this is the original me,” she claims.

“To sum it up, HyunA is hard to read.” she says.

HyunA’s pre-release single, then-titled ‘GOOD GIRL’, was scheduled for release in August last year. Late that month, however, her agency announced that she would be taking a break from all activities due to health concerns. In a statement, her agency cited challenges with vasovagal syncope as the reason.

“Last year, HyunA made the difficult decision to publicly confess for the first time that she suffers from depression and panic disorder and that she had received a diagnosis of vasovagal syncope.” the statement read.

“Afterwards, she has been consistently receiving treatment for a long time in the hopes of doing her best and showing you her best self for the release of her single, which was scheduled for next week, as well as the release of her full studio album, which was planned for later in the year.” P NATION said.

“However, in spite of her continuous determination and efforts, she recently fainted multiple times due to vasovagal syncope. Because we are an agency that has a responsibility to protect our artists, we have come to the conclusion that what our artist needs most right now is to get sufficient treatment and rest.” they continued.

This will be HyunA’s first release since 2019’s ‘Flower Shower’, which was also her first release under P NATION.
