The Illy Australian Tour 2014 has been announced with the Aussie hip hop favourite travelling the country for the release of his latest album, Cinematic.

Illy’s fourth studio album Cinematic landed loud and proud at #4 on the ARIA album chart last week and is the Melbourne artist’s first Top 10 debut and the second highest first week sales by an Australian hip hop artist in 2013.

To celebrate the release, Illy has announced The Cinematic National Tour for March 2014, presented in association with Illy’s own newly formed hip hop label One Two. Fans will be treated to the best of Illy’s catalogue including new singles ‘Youngbloods’ featuring Ahren Stringer and ‘On & On’. Tickets are on sale from Monday 2 December.

Joining Illy on The Cinematic National tour is Jackie Onassis. The Sydney hip hop duo have had a massive year, labelled by UK’s BBC as a ‘Next Hype Artist’ and Triple J’s ‘Next Crop’, and were nominated for ‘Unearthed Artist of the Year’. Also added to the killer line-up is Melbourne emcee Remi, fresh from taking home the J Award for ‘Unearthed Artist of the Year’ and smashing out The Avalanches’ ‘Since I Left You’ on ‘Like A Version’.

Illy recently won a legion of new fans with his Triple J Like A Version mega medley, covering Silverchair, Hilltop Hoods, Paul Kelly and Flume, the track has amassed over 395,000 YouTube views in just over three weeks.

Cinematic was recorded over the past year at Executive Producer M-Phazes’ (Eminem, Kimbra, Bliss N Eso) Melbourne studio. Jan Skubiszewski (Way of the Eagle, Jackson Jackson), Styalz Fuego and Cam Bluff have also contributed to the production of the album which features guest appearances from Hilltop Hoods, Drapht, Daniel Merriweather and Kira Puru.

Cinematic is a tale of a smart and idealistic hip-hop storyteller who put everything on the line through honing his craft and sheer hard work. It’s all part of the mosaic that makes up Illy: his relatable persona, hip-hop nous and lyrical smarts have cemented him as one of Australia’s most exciting artists. And now, having taken charge of his own career path with his label One Two, it’s just the beginning of the rest of the saga for Illy.
